Twitter Inc. (NYSE:TWTR) has won another huge streaming deal, this time with the NBA.
Twitter Inc. has been winning streaming deals at breakneck speed of late, starting with the nationally televised NFL Thursday night games, and moving quickly into collegiate athletics with the Pac-12 conference, politics with the democratic and republican national conventions, finance with Bloomberg and yet more sports with Wimbledon, Major League Soccer and Major League Baseball.
Not to be outdone, the National Basketball Association as jumped into the fray, as Twitter Inc. is quickly becoming the go to locale for streaming real-time communiques. The San Jose Mercury News reported on the NBA deal, and here's a snippet.
We do note that Twitter Inc. will not be able to live stream actual games, unlike its deal with the NFL, Wimbledon, and Pac-12, due to an overarching deal the NBA has with its various broadcast partners. The larger picture points to the reality that Twitter Inc. (NYSE:TWTR) is rather quickly becoming the go to place for real-time live streaming video for all things in all areas. If Twitter Inc. can master this streaming video segment of technology and content, it has room for tremendous growth.
Of course, Facebook Inc. (NASDAQ:FB) Live and Alphabet Inc. (NASDAQ:GOOGL) YouTube will have something to say about that claim. Both sites have more than a billion monthly average users and Alphabet Inc. (NASDAQ:GOOGL) actually posted heavier viewership for YouTube alone that any broadcast or cable channel in the United States for viewers aged 18-49.
Twitter Inc. reports earnings on July 26th, after the market closes. Here is an all-time revenue chart for context:
